'The Navy says the submarine force conducts the ice exercises to assure continued access to the Arctic Ocean, which submarines cross when traveling between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
'A camp and tracking range will be built into an ice floe north of Prudhoe Bay.
'The Navy says the submarine force last conducted Arctic exercises in 2012 but the last time an ice camp was established for exercises there was 2011.'
