Job Offer for Pirates

PC World "Game developers have tried any number of strategies to try and fight software piracy but Syndicate developers Starbreeze Studios appear to have hatched a new scheme." By David Daw

'Game developers have tried any number of strategies to try and fight software piracy but Syndicate developers Starbreeze Studios appear to have hatched a new scheme: recruit the pirates. A Reddit user named MikkelManDK found the message hidden in an .nfo file included in a legal download of the game.

'.nfo files have traditionally been used by pirates for bragging rights about a new release. They largely consist of ASCII images showing off the pirate-group’s logo, with instructions for installing and playing ill-gotten games. Perplexed to find such a file included in his legitimate copy of the game, MikkelManDK opened the nfo to find a message from Starbreeze asking “Are you bored with watching from the sidelines? Ready to make the switch?” and providing contact information to look into working at Starbreeze.'
