Pirate party in Bristol UK

Jack FM "Come along in your fancy dress and join in the fun!"

"The city of Bristol will shiver its timbers on Sunday 10th July 2011 when the harbourside will host Bristol’s Big Pirate Party and Treasure Island extravaganza. The FREE event will celebrate Bristol’s pirate heritage, and launch a series of local beers, books along with an open-air run of the Bristol Old Vic’s summer production of ‘Treasure Island’.

"Famous sailing ship The Matthew will launch from its mooring at SS Great Britain at 11am to sail to the Arnolfini where the crew will face a host of snarling pirates (the Young Vic Company) for a mock battle. Escaping to the relative peace of Redcliffe Wharf, the pirates come ashore to teach people how to dance like a pirate, how to talk like a pirate, and there will be a mini-pirates fancy dress competition for the youngsters, judged by BBC Radio Bristol’s Steve Yabbsley. The best dressed young pirates will win a hoard of treasure (some of it edible!). The Matthew will then sail back through the harbour towards The Grain Barge where the party will continue through the afternoon with beer launches, book signings and a buccaneering band."
