Examiner 'Slater named the mutt "Hollow" after the beach she was found on and resolved to rescue her.' by Pam D'Addio
'When professional surfer Kelly Slater traveled to Puerto Rico to win his 10th World Title, one mangy dog began to follow him up and down the beach. The 2 year old mutt had cuts, sores and skin problems and no one wanted to touch her, but Slater sat in the sand and the friendly dog climbed into his lap to soak up the affection he offered.
'The superstar surfer with the heart of a champion also has quite a heart for animals. Very philanthropic, he's a long-time, strong supporter of Best Friends Animal Society, the nation's largest animal sanctuary and rescue organization.'
