Re Oliver Doy: 'Dave Bulley, coastguard station officer at Newquay, said: "You never give up hope. We just have to keep on looking."'

'Andrew and Katherine MacCreadie, who both volunteer with the Newquay cliff rescue team, made the discovery at around 5.30pm on Sunday after a five-hour search.

'The exhausted pair then had to spend the night cancelling credit cards and changing the locks on their home.

'Mr MacCreadie, 45, reckons the culprit may even have targeted the base at Treloggan Industrial Estate knowing that coastguards would leave their cars there before joining the search, which was featured heavily on local radio stations.

'He said: "I'm absolutely disgusted that someone could have done this.

'"You'd have to be a lowlife. They must have known there was a search going on – it was all over the news."

'Fears continue to mount over the whereabouts of 26-year-old surfer Oliver Doy, from Hampshire, who was last seen leaving Sailors nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning.

'It is understood he was on a six-day holiday at the resort with two friends.

'His driver's licence was found on a town centre beach, sparking fears he may have gone for a night swim or surf.'
